Judging Progress

Dear Participants,

First and foremost, we want to thank you for your continued patience. The caliber of the 4,500+ submissions we received is truly outstanding, and our judging panel is currently hard at work giving projects the deep dive they deserve.

Because the projects are looking so good, the team needs a bit more time to finalize the scoring and ensure the most innovative work is recognized. We now expect to share the final results with you on April 8th.

Our judging panel includes members of the Google DeepMind team, who are simultaneously working on some other very exciting projects. Be sure to keep an eye out for some fun announcements from them online in the meantime!

How Judging Works:

To help you understand the process, here is a breakdown of how your projects are being evaluated across the two stages outlined in the official rules:

Stage One: Eligibility & Viability Check

The review team at Devpost and Google DeepMind has reviewed every submission to ensure they met the baseline level of viability to move to Stage Two. This required the following items summarized from the official rules:

  • Gemini 3 Integration: A new application leveraging the Gemini 3 API.

  • Written Summary: A brief write-up (~200 words) detailing which Gemini 3 features were used and why they are central to the app.

  • Public Project Link: A link to a working product, interactive demo (like AI Studio), or a public code repository.

  • Demonstration Video: A video (under 3 minutes) showing the project functioning, in English or with English subtitles. If it is longer than 3 minutes, only the first 3 minutes may be evaluated.

Stage Two: The Judging Panel

Submissions that passed Stage One are currently with our expert Judging Panel. They are scoring each project from 1 to 5 based on the following weighted criteria:

  • Technical Execution - 40%
    • Does the project demonstrate quality application development? Does the project leverage Gemini 3? Is the code of good quality and is it functional?
  • Potential Impact - 20%
    • How big of an impact could the project have in the real world? How useful is the project to a broad market of users? How significant is the problem the project addresses, and does it efficiently solve it?
  • Innovation/Wow Factor - 30%
    • How novel and original is the idea? Does it address a significant problem or create a unique solution?
  • Presentation/Demo - 10%
    • Is the problem clearly defined, and is the solution effectively presented through a demo and documentation? Have they explained how they used Gemini 3 and any relevant tools? Have they included documentation or an architectural diagram?

Note on Testing: Judges are not required to download or test your project and will depend heavily on your demo video to see your project in action.

Feedback & Community

If you would like feedback on your project, we encourage you to share your work with your peers in the Devpost Discord. Please note that Devpost and Google DeepMind cannot provide individual feedback regarding specific judging stages or results.

We apologize for the wait and thank you again for being part of this hackathon.
